Softball Recap: Canyon Ridge Takes a Loss

Canyon Ridge had lost 16 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 1-12 to make it 17. They came up short against the Burley Bobcats, falling 17-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Harleigh Slagle was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with one home run and one double.

As for Burley, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-8 record this season. With that victory, they brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

On Burley's side, Adalynn Olmos made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off 11 hits. Olmos has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Abby Noble was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Paetynn Ramirez was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Burley beat Canyon Ridge by a score of 10-3 later that day.
