Basketball Recap: Amite Comes Up Short

Amite was the 64-40 winner over Pine when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Amite Warriors were outmatched by the Pine Raiders and fell 76-44. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-20.

Despite the loss, Amite still got an impressive performance from Curtissiyah Jenkins, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 54.5% of Amite's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Alexcia Moore was another key player, putting up nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for Amite and nudges their season record down to 10-14. As for Pine, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Amite wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-42 defeat against French Settlement on the 6th. Pine has also already played their next matchup (against St. Thomas Aquinas), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
