Basketball Game Preview: Willapa Valley Vikings vs. Oakville Acorns

The Willapa Valley Vikings will face off against the Oakville Acorns at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Willapa Valley is likely headed into the match with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Taholah on Tuesday. Willapa Valley fell to Taholah 53-48.

Despite the defeat, Willapa Valley saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tylar Keeton dropped a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. The contest was Keeton's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Kylee Fluke was another key player, putting up six points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Oakville strolled past Columbia Adventist Academy with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 58-43. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Acorns.

Willapa Valley's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Oakville, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.

Everything came up roses for Willapa Valley against Oakville in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, as the squad secured a 36-7 victory. Will Willapa Valley repeat their success, or does Oakville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
