Baseball Game Preview: Perkins Pirates vs. Lake Catholic Cougars

The Perkins Pirates will take on the Lake Catholic Cougars at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Perkins sitting on six straight victories and Lake Catholic on nine.

Perkins is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Indian Hill 4-3.

Perkins saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Parker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Lake Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over Unioto on Friday.

Patrick Radigan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

Lake Catholic was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unioto only posted a batting average of .050.

Lake Catholic's victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-4. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Perkins, their victory bumped their record up to 23-9.
