Softball Recap: Gig Harbor's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Gig Harbor had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They walked away with an 8-4 win over the River Ridge Hawks. That's more bragging rights for the Tides, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Isabelle Harris was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Payton Cantrell, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gig Harbor kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as River Ridge only managed three hits.

Gig Harbor pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for River Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Gig Harbor will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st. The Tides are facing the Lancers at the right time seeing as the Lancers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for River Ridge, they have already played their next contest, a 14-1 defeat against Central Kitsap on the 14th.
