Baseball Preview: Gretna Hawks vs. Appomattox County Raiders
Gretna is 1-9 against Appomattox County since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hawks will head out to square off against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m.
Gretna managed to slip by William Campbell the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Generals on Wednesday, falling 7-0. The Hawks' loss continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.
Meanwhile, Appomattox County entered their tilt with Dan River on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 5-2.
Owen Chavis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
