It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Holton ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the St. Marys Bears 14-13. The win was some much needed relief for the Wildcats as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Caleb McCrory was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Grant Warner was another key player, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Holton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .312 or higher in three consecutive contests.
The victory got Holton back to even at 5-5. As for St. Marys, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holton will challenge Nemaha Central at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for St. Marys, they will face off against Royal Valley on Thursday.
