Basketball Recap: College Prep of America Comes Up Short

On Friday, the College Prep of America Thunder took a blow against the Glenbard East Rams, falling 70-40. While losing is never fun, the Thunder can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 620th, while the Rams are ranked 228th).

Despite the loss, College Prep of America still got an impressive performance from Hamzah Shouman, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 rebounds. Shouman has been hot for a while, having posted 16 or more points the last 22 times he's played.

Even though they lost, College Prep of America smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

College Prep of America's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Glenbard East, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.

College Prep of America will host Horizon Science Academy McKinley Park at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. College Prep of America is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.7 points per game this season. As for Glenbard East, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against North Lawndale at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Glenbard East's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
