Softball Game Preview: Cedar Park Christian Eagles vs. Mount Vernon Bulldogs

Cedar Park Christian is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Mount Vernon is on a seven-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Eagles will welcome the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Cedar Park Christian had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 12-run drubbing they dealt Granite Falls on Tuesday. The Eagles put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 14-2 win.

Shelby Southard made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Cedar Park Christian got a massive performance out of Ella Meikle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one double. Those five RBI gave Meikle a new career-high. Katelyn Charlton was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
