Softball Game Preview: Drury Blue Devils vs. Taconic Thunder

Drury hasn't had much luck against Taconic recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Blue Devils will head out on the road to face off against the Thunder at 4:00 p.m.

Drury might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 12-6 to Pittsfield, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Meanwhile, Taconic gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 16-4 margin over Pioneer Valley Regional. The victory continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.

Cheyann Goddard made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Goddard was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

In other batting news, Taconic got a massive performance out of Maddie Harrington, who scored four runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kylie Duhamel, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Taconic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pioneer Valley Regional only posted an OBP of .393.

Drury came out on top in a nail-biter against Taconic in their previous meeting back in May of 2019, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Blue Devils repeat their success, or do the Thunder have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
