Soccer Game Preview: East Carteret vs. Jones

East Carteret hasn't had much luck against Jones recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Mariners will head out to take on the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

East Carteret is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to six goals on Monday, they were much more limited against Lejeune on Wednesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Devilpups. While losing is never fun, East Carteret can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 540th, while Lejeune are ranked 109th).

Meanwhile, Jones came up short against Southside on Wednesday and fell 4-2. Jones haven't had much luck with Southside recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Jones' loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for East Carteret, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 2-8.
