Baseball Game Preview: Cooper Bulldogs vs. Celeste Blue Devils

Cooper is a perfect 5-0 against Celeste since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Cooper will host Celeste at 6:30 p.m. The last three games Cooper has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

In Friday's Canine Competition, Cooper prevailed. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Wolfe City 10-9. The win continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Cooper saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Williams, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Williams a new career-high. Another was Courion Finney, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Cooper was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wolfe City only posted a batting average of .192.

Meanwhile, Celeste put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Saltillo 11-1. While the Blue Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Cooper's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Celeste, their victory bumped their record up to 5-0-1.

Everything went Cooper's way against Celeste in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Cooper made off with a 14-1 win. Does Cooper have another victory up their sleeve, or will Celeste turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
