Recap: River City Raiders vs. Morro Bay Pirates
It was a good run, but the River City Raiders unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Morro Bay 64-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
River City's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tomas Montoya, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Tyrone Orr, who scored 14 points.
Leading Morro Bay to victory were Jake Falat and Justin Campbell. Falat scored 19 points along with 8 rebounds, while Campbell scored 26 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Falat has scored at least 25% of Morro Bay's points. Sergio Mendoza was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 rebounds.
River City's defeat dropped their record down to 5-2. As for Morro Bay, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. River City will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Elk Grove at 7:00 p.m. on December 5th. Hopefully Elk Grove focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Saturday. As for Morro Bay, they will head out on the road to face off against Templeton at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Templeton and Morro Bay are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
