Basketball Recap: Imileo Martinez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Walden Grove over Sahuaro

If Walden Grove was feeling good fresh off their 78-43 takedown of Pueblo last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Walden Grove Red Wolves received a blow on Tuesday as they fell 82-65 to the Sahuaro Cougars. The Red Wolves have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Several Red Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Imileo Martinez, who posted 16 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Those five rebounds gave Martinez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caden Green, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Cisco Llamas continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Sahuaro, almost dropping a double-double with 19 points and nine assists. Llamas is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last ten games he's played. Jamal Ali was another key player, going 7-for-8 en route to 16 points.

Walden Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 15-12. As for Sahuaro, they pushed their record up to 19-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

Walden Grove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 91-76 loss against Mica Mountain on the 6th. As for Sahuaro, they have also already played their next matchup, a 73-49 win against Ironwood Ridge on the 6th.
