Softball Recap: Sparta Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Sparta was riding high fresh off their 23-1 takedown of Conway last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Sparta came up short against the Hurley Tigers on Monday, falling 13-6. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Raylee Dorman was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Layne Forgey, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.

Dorman wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Sparta lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Sparta's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sparta will square off against Clever at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be Sparta's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Hurley, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hurley Tigers take on Early Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
