Baseball Game Preview: West Port Wolf Pack vs. Dunnellon Tigers

West Port is 1-9 against Dunnellon since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolf Pack are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m.

West Port is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Belleview, falling 9-1.

Dunnellon never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Lake Weir last Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Hurricanes 10-8. With that win, the Tigers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Draven White looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Wyatt West was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Dunnellon is 2-1 when West posts two or more runs, but 8-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jacob Fontanez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Dunnellon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dunnellon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-13 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for West Port, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

West Port suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Dunnellon in their previous matchup last Friday. Can the Wolf Pack avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
