Baseball Game Preview: Latta Panthers vs. McLoud Redskins

Latta has gone a perfect 4-0 against McLoud recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Redskins at 5:00 p.m. Latta will be looking to extend their current ten-game winning streak.

Latta proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 11) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against McAlester, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since March 28th.

Gestin Pollard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on ten hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ryder Perry, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Deakon Smith, who went 1-for-2 with two runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McLoud). They were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over Star-Spencer on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Latta's win bumped their record up to 21-2. As for McLoud, their victory bumped their record up to 8-19.

Latta got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 against McLoud by a conclusive 10-3 score. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Redskins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
