Softball Recap: Downingtown East Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

While Downingtown East's win against Bishop Shanahan wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over the Eagles on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won seven in a row.

The team relied heavily on Hailey Long, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Madison Baroni was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Downingtown East's victory was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Bishop Shanahan, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
