Recap: Whiting Oilers vs. River Forest Ingots
The Whiting Oilers had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 52-33 win over River Forest on Wednesday. For Whiting, this counts as revenge for the 42-33 defeat River Forest walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2022.
Victoria Velez was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and 10 steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Quinones, who scored 15 points along with 6 steals.
Whiting's win bumped their record up to 3-5-1. As for River Forest, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Whiting will head out on the road to face off against Lighthouse College Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for River Forest, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hanover Central at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hanover Central presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than River Forest in Indiana (Hanover Central is ranked 75th, while River Forest is ranked 330th).
