Basketball Preview: Southwind Jaguars vs. Cordova Wolves
The Southwind Jaguars will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Cordova Wolves at 6:00 p.m. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Southwind and ten for the Wolves dating back to last season.
Last Tuesday, Southwind was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 40-35 to the Tigers. Southwind has not had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Canija Madison, who scored five points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Juliannah Sharp, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Cordova took a serious blow against the Tigers last Thursday, falling 61-29.
Southwind has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season. As for Cordova, their defeat was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.
Southwind took their victory against the Wolves when the teams last played back in January by a conclusive 49-28. Does Southwind have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wolves turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
