Volleyball Recap: Homer-Center Falls Despite Big Games from Joss Bence and Ashlyn Yount

Homer-Center was the 3-0 winner over Bishop Carroll when they last played one another back in November of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Wildcats took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Huskies on Monday. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-14, 22-25, 25-23.

Homer-Center's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ashlyn Yount, who had seven digs and three aces, and Joss Bence, who had 13 digs and three aces. Yount is also crushing it when it comes to assists: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season.

Bishop Carroll was led to victory by Cora Koscho and Sophie Becquet. Koscho had 20 digs, while Becquet had 38 digs and nine kills. Those 38 digs gave Becquet a new career-high.

Homer-Center now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Bishop Carroll, their record is now 4-5-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Homer-Center will square off against River Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bishop Carroll, they will face off against Forest Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
