Baseball Game Preview: Cumberland Colts vs. Timber Creek Regional Chargers

The Cumberland Colts will head out to face off against the Timber Creek Regional Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cumberland will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.

Cumberland managed to slip by Hammonton the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Colts lost 17-5 to the Blue Devils on Tuesday.

Josh Holt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Aden Pace also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Timber Creek Regional ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Triton, sneaking past 7-6. The Chargers haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brycen Monitzer looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Timber Creek Regional: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Cole Scanlan was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nick Traynor, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Cumberland's defeat dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Timber Creek Regional, they picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 5-7.
