Baseball Recap: Riverside's Win Ends Six-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Paxon School For Advanced Studies, Riverside was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Westside Wolverines as the Riverside Generals made off with a 17-2 victory. The Generals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Josh Skipper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits (and only one walk). Skipper was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Those hits were his first of the season.

In other batting news, Adrian Gonzalez was a standout: he scored a run and stole Six bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Angelo Frazier, who scored three runs and stole Four bases. while going 3-for-3.

Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .711. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Riverside's win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-6. As for Westside, they are on an 18-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Riverside will head out on the road to face off against Atlantic Coast at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Atlantic Coast is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season. As for Westside, they will be playing at home against Raines at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Westside has given up an average of 17.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
