Baseball Recap: Archbishop Carroll's Run of Four Straight Victories Now Over

Archbishop Carroll fell victim to Immaculata-La Salle and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Immaculata-La Salle Royal Lions by a score of 2-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

ADRIAN GARCIA was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five).

Archbishop Carroll moved to 7-6-1 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.5 hits in those games compared to only 5.2 in the others. As for Immaculata-La Salle, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
