Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Devin Estevez and Michael Iuzzolino Lead Delaware Valley to Victory

Delaware Valley's game on Saturday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over the Abington Heights Comets. For the Warriors, this counts as revenge for the 20-14 win the Comets walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2024.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Michael Iuzzolino and Devin Estevez. Iuzzolino rushed for 175 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.3 yards per carry while Estevez rushed for 99 yards and one touchdown on only six carries. Those 99 rushing yards gave Estevez a new career-high.

Delaware Valley's run defense was locked in: Abington Heights could only muster 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Dylan Bannon for the heroic effort on defense: he. Delaware Valley's run defense has been on the up-and-up: they allowed 4.8 yards per carry earlier this season, but they've only allowed 7.7 on average over their last five games.

Abington Heights' loss came despite strong showings from Gavin Anders and Noah Kayal. Anders picked up 120 receiving yards and one TD, while Kayal rushed for 50 yards and one score. Anders also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making eight total tackles.

The victory made it two in a row for Delaware Valley and bumps their season record up to 2-4. As for Abington Heights, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.

Delaware Valley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 55-34 win against Long Island Lutheran on the 3rd. As for Abington Heights, they have also already played their next game, a 17-15 victory against Scranton Prep on the 3rd.
