Basketball Recap: Saturday's Victory Is St. Vincent De Paul's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only St. Vincent de Paul walked away with it. They blew past the Valley Christian Vikings 72-50 on Saturday. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

St. Vincent de Paul found their leader in sophomore Dylan Chelew, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 22 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Chelew has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Yusupov, who went 5-for-11 en route to 13 points and five boards.

St. Vincent de Paul has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Valley Christian's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-16.

Coming up, St. Vincent de Paul will face off against Point Arena at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Point Arena knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 games -- so hopefully St. Vincent de Paul likes a good challenge. Valley Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
