Basketball Recap: Austin Dunlap's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bismarck over Ellington

Bismarck was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 64-60 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ellington Whippets. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 85-79 to them when the teams met back in November of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Several Indians players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Dunlap, who went 10 of 25 on his way to 25 points along with six boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of August Martinez, who went 6 for 12 en route to 13 points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks.

Even though they lost, Bismarck was working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Bismarck's defeat dropped their record down to 5-15. As for Ellington, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-9.

Bismarck didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-39 loss against Central on the 8th. Ellington has also already played their next contest (against Lesterville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
