Soccer Recap: Walnut's Victory on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Walnut kept a clean sheet against Diamond Bar on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Diamond Bar Brahmas with a sharp 4-0 win. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 231st, while the Brahmas are ranked 665th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ellie Lopez and Vianna Alvarez scored all four of Walnut's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 20 goals.

The victory (which was Walnut's third in a row) raised their record to 13-8-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three contests. As for Diamond Bar, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Walnut has already played their next match (against Glendora), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Diamond Bar will venture away from home to challenge Claremont at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Claremont's last five games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
