Softball Recap: Redington Huskies vs. Ketchikan Kings
Redington extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 12 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-2 in the process. They lost 12-0 to the Ketchikan Kings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Huskies of the 22-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.
As for Ketchikan, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-11-2. Considering they have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
For Ketchikan's part, they let Vienna Pahang and Lilly Brakke run wild. Pahang went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Brakke went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave Pahang a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brenna Winder, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Looking ahead, Redington will be playing in front of their home fans against Homer at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Huskies are facing the Mariners at the right time seeing as the Mariners are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Ketchikan, they will be playing at home against Juneau-Douglas at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
