Basketball Game Preview: Jackson Prep Patriots vs. Leake Academy Rebels

Jackson Prep has won five straight games at home, while Leake Academy has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Saturday. The Jackson Prep Patriots will host the Leake Academy Rebels at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Thursday, Jackson Prep beat Oak Forest Academy 53-40. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked tenth in Mississippi, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 127th in Louisiana), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Leake Academy). They really took it to Lamar for the full four quarters, racking up a 73-36 win. The Rebels have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 23 points or more this season.

Leake Academy's win came from a few key players Jackson Prep will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jenna Allen, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Prince, who went 6 of 11 on her way to 15 points and six rebounds.

Jackson Prep's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Leake Academy, their win bumped their record up to 17-0.
