Basketball Recap: Lake Region Christian Comes Up Short

Lake Region Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fourth Baptist Christian Warriors. The Hornets lost against the Warriors in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 50-21 score last time.

Despite the loss, Lake Region Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ava Erickson posted eight points and five steals. The dominant performance also gave Erickson a new career-high in blocks (two). Bella Stephens was another key player, putting up six points.

Even though they lost, Lake Region Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive contests.

Lake Region Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Lake Region Christian has already played their next match, a 70-42 loss against Immanuel Lutheran on the 10th. As for Fourth Baptist Christian, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lake Region Christian at 5:15 p.m. on January 21st.
