Baseball Game Preview: Gorham Rams vs. Bangor Rams

Gorham will face off against Bangor at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Gorham sitting on 14 straight victories and Bangor on five.

Gorham is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over Noble.

Hunter Finck was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miles Brenner, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more RBI the last four times he's played. Cooper Whitehead was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Bangor faced Oxford Hills in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Rams beat the Vikings by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 13, 2024, but that streak is no more.

Gorham's victory bumped their record up to 18-2-1. As for Bangor, their win bumped their record up to 16-3-1.

Gorham couldn't quite get it done against Bangor in their previous meeting back in June of 2018 as they fell 10-6. Can Gorham avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
