Basketball Game Preview: Screven County Gamecocks vs. Beach Bulldogs

The Screven County Gamecocks and the Beach Bulldogs will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Screven County sitting on six straight wins and Beach on three.

Screven County is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Emanuel County Institute to the tune of 96-63 on Friday. The Gamecocks pushed the score to 63-40 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bulldogs had little chance of recovering from.

Rodney Beckwith produced another solid effort shooting 4-for-4 from beyond the arc and almost dropping a double-double with 34 points and nine boards. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was LeVez Roper, who shot 41% from the field on his way to 25 points.

Screven County was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Beach hadn't done well against Windsor Forest recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Knights by a score of 66-53. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Knights are ranked 426th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Screven County's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Beach, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
