Basketball Recap: Marion Comes Up Short

Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 34-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mesick Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 28-23 last Monday.

Mesick got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Avary Monroe out in front who posted two points and 22 rebounds. Monroe is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in each of the last six games she's played. Madi Putney was another key player, putting up 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 2-15. As for Mesick, their record is now 4-15.

Coming up, Marion will square off against Cadillac Heritage Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesick, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Northern Michigan Christian at 4:30 p.m. Northern Michigan Christian will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Mesick surely won't give up without a fight.
