Recap: Northside Panthers vs. Ball Tornadoes
The Northside Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their seventh straight loss. They took a serious blow against Ball, falling 72-0. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 1191st, while Ball is ranked 368th).
Ball got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyden Barker out in front who threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Justis Thomas was another key contributor, rushing for 114 yards and a touchdown.
Northside's loss was their tenth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 2-8 Wisdom and 2-7 Austin (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.7% over those games). As for Ball, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.
Northside will head out on the road to face off against Sharpstown at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sharpstown comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last nine games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Ball, they will be playing at home against Wisdom at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
