Overfelt is 2-7 against Gunderson since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. Overfelt will host Gunderson at 4:00 p.m. Overfelt will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Overfelt's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 16-0 margin over James Lick. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by nine runs or more this season.
HUGO JERONIMO and ELIJAH CASTANEDA-AZCUETA were a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, JERONIMO struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, CASTANEDA-AZCUETA tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. JERONIMO has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, JERONIMO scored a run and stole two bases, while CASTANEDA-AZCUETA scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. CASTANEDA-AZCUETA is becoming a predictor of Overfelt's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is undefeated (and 1-3 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, BRANDON GONZALEZ was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. He has become a key player for Overfelt: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 1-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of DECIMUS LACAYO, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2.
Overfelt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .759. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .595 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Gunderson lost 15-5 to Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.
Brian Uribe was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI. That hit marked the first that he got this season.
Overfelt pushed their record up to 4-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.8 runs over those games. As for Gunderson, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Overfelt has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 12.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Gunderson struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Overfelt might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from Gunderson when the teams last played back in May of 2022. Will Overfelt have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
