Preview: Scott Highlanders vs. Gibbs Eagles

The Scott Highlanders will head out on the road to square off against the Gibbs Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Tennessee (Scott is ranked 264th, while Gibbs is ranked 270th).

Scott proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 54) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past Clinton 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Meanwhile, Gibbs pushed their score all the way to 59 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Clinton. The game was a 33-33 toss-up at halftime, but Gibbs was outscored by Clinton in the second.

Zack Turner put forth a good effort for the losing side as he scored 22 points along with six assists. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last six games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Chase Norman, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and two steals.

The victory makes it two in a row for Scott and bumps their season record up to 8-6. As for Gibbs, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-11.

Things could have been worse for Scott, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 66-52 loss to Gibbs when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Scott avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
