Softball Recap: Encinal Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Acalanes, Encinal was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the St. Joseph Notre Dame Pilots with a sharp 14-1 win. Considering the Jets' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Tamyrah Jamison and Sherrielyn Ferrer did most of the damage at the plate: Jamison went 3-for-4 with five RBI, three runs, and one double, while Ferrer went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave Jamison a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiely Wong, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Encinal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. Joseph Notre Dame only posted a batting average of .059.

Encinal's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-1.

Coming up, Encinal is taking a road trip to face off against Campolindo at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Joseph Notre Dame, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Moreau Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. St. Joseph Notre Dame is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
