Football Game Preview: Kern Valley Broncs vs. Granite Hills Grizzlies + Official Tickets

The Kern Valley Broncs will take on the Granite Hills Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kern Valley will be strutting in after a victory while Granite Hills will be coming in after a defeat.

Kern Valley will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Bishop Union, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. The Broncs took down the Broncos 27-13 on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncs.

Kern Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jackson Price led the charge by throwing for 98 yards and a pair of TDs, while also punching in one score on the ground. Price's passing game has become a key predictor of the Broncs' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. Carson Parks handled things on the ground, rushing for 93 yards.

Kern Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Daniel Hinkey led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Kern Valley received some extra help from Blake Baughman, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Meanwhile, Granite Hills was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 47-16 loss at the hands of Woodlake. The Grizzlies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-0.

Granite Hills' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Kern Valley, the win also got them back to even at 5-5.

Kern Valley was taken down by Granite Hills 43-12 when the teams last played back in September of 2017. Thankfully for the Broncs, Jasper Berumen (who rushed for 190 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
