Softball Game Preview: Elkmont Red Devils vs. Athens Bible Trojans

The Elkmont Red Devils will face off against the Athens Bible Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Elkmont's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Brindlee Mountain 10-0. The win continues a trend for the Red Devils in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.

MJ Woodfin made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Avery Harwell was a standout: she scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Julia Bradford was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Elkmont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Brindlee Mountain struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Athens Bible had just enough and edged out Decatur Heritage Christian Academy 6-5 on Tuesday.

Elkmont's record now sits at 3-4. As for Athens Bible, their record now sits at 5-3.

Elkmont was able to grind out a solid victory over Athens Bible in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, winning 10-6. Does Elkmont have another victory up their sleeve, or will Athens Bible turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
