Preview: St. Pius X Warriors vs. Bishop LeBlond Eagles
St. Pius X is 9-1 against Bishop LeBlond since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The St. Pius X Warriors are on the road again and plays the Bishop LeBlond Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on February 13th. St. Pius X will be strutting in after a win while Bishop LeBlond will be coming in after a loss.
St. Pius X put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 57-34 margin over Cameron.
Ava Coons went supernova for St. Pius X, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds. It was the first time this season that Coons scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Kate Sell, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Bishop LeBlond has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Platte County.
St. Pius X is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-11 record this season. As for Bishop LeBlond, their loss dropped their record down to 19-6.
St. Pius X beat Bishop LeBlond 53-46 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Pius X since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
