Baseball Game Preview: Riverview Sharks vs. Plant City Raiders

Riverview is 2-8 against Plant City since March of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Sharks will look to defend their home field against the Raiders at 7:00 p.m.

Riverview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Plant on Saturday. They lost 12-2 to the Panthers.

Riverview saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jordan Shultz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double was Shultz's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Plant City won against Prestonsburg on Thursday with 15 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Saturday. The Raiders didn't even let Middleton on the board, marking the Raiders' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.

Aldin West looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Alex Rodriguez, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Cothren, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Plant City hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.

Riverview's loss dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Plant City, their win bumped their record up to 13-10.

Riverview might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Plant City when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
