Softball Recap: Conneaut Area Eagles vs. Saegertown Panthers
Conneaut Area kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Saegertown Panthers by a score of 4-2. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Conneaut Area of the 6-5 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2023.
For Saegertown's part, Mikaila Obenrader made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). Obenrader was also big at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Obenrader wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Rhiannon Paris, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Conneaut Area will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Station Camp at 11:00 a.m. on April 11th. As for Saegertown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cambridge Springs at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
