Football Game Preview: Irvin Rockets vs. Ysleta Indians

Irvin hasn't had much luck against Ysleta recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Rockets will look to defend their home field against the Indians at 6:30 p.m. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Dallas Medina and Rodrigo Martinez.

Irvin had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Austin put an end to it on Friday. The Rockets had to suffer through a 28-0 loss at the hands of the Panthers. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Rockets haven't been shut out since back in August.

Meanwhile, Ysleta put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 43-12 victory over Clint. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won four games by 31 points or more so far this season.

Irvin better focus on containing Armando Guzman and Martin Castro as the pair were huge in Ysleta's win. Guzman picked up 90 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Castro rushed for 113 yards and one TD on only ten carries. Guzman also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Ysleta, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Ruben Jurado, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Irvin now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Ysleta, their win bumped their record up to 7-0.
