The Dripping Springs Tigers will head out to challenge the O'Connor Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Dripping Springs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Dripping Springs is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They never let Stony Point get on the board and left with a 4-0 win. Dripping Springs hasn't had any issues with Stony Point recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Not much got past Tatum Green, who gave up just five hits to keep Stony Point off the board. Green has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Dripping Springs let Jai-Lynn Flores and Sadie Bradford run wild. Flores got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, while Bradford went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lorelei Gamble, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, O'Connor entered their tilt with Madison on Saturday with 13 consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with 14. They blew past the Mavericks 10-0. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by seven runs or more this season.
O'Connor also got a great performance from Bel Ganter as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
At the plate, Meiko Dominguez was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two triples, two runs, and one RBI. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Isabella Sierra, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
O'Connor was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in ten consecutive contests.
O'Connor's win was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Dripping Springs, their record is now 25-8-1.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dripping Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like O'Connor struggles in that department as they've averaged .392. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dripping Springs came up short against O'Connor in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 5-2. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
