Baseball Recap: Lordsburg Wins Going Away Against Jemez Valley

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Tohatchi, Lordsburg was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Jemez Valley Warrior 22-7. Considering the Mavericks have won three matchups by more than 14 runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Daniel Scott, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Platz, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lordsburg always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jemez Valley only posted an OBP of .222.

Lordsburg now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Jemez Valley, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lordsburg beat Jemez Valley by a score of 12-2 later that day.
