Baseball Recap: Durfee Snaps 15-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Durfee dropped their record down to 5-3 on Sunday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Weymouth Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Hilltoppers were not able to get on the board.

As for Weymouth, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

For Weymouth's part, the result came thanks to Jack Reyes's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up 11 Ks. Reyes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Johnny Pires was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Will Pratt, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Durfee will welcome Brockton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Weymouth, they will be playing at home against Brookline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in the Wildcats' favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Warriors have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
