Recap: Waltrip Rams vs. Ball Tornadoes
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last five matchup, The Waltrip Rams finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 66-12 loss at the hands of Ball. Waltrip was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-12.
When it comes to explaining why Waltrip lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kevion West. Despite the final result, he rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 153 yards and a touchdown.
Ball got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justis Thomas out in front who rushed for 127 yards and four touchdowns on only 12 carries. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonah Williams, who gained 117 total yards and three touchdowns.
Waltrip has fallen quite a ways from their 8-3 record last season and are now at 3-5. As for Ball, the victory was the sixth in a row for they, bringing their record for this year to 7-1.
Waltrip will be playing at home against Sharpstown at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Sharpstown comes in on a streak of failing to score more than six points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Ball, they will head out on the road to face off against Northside at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th. The timing isn't great for Northside: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Ball has snatched up nine consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
