Baseball Recap: Spencerville Adventist Academy Takes a Loss

Spencerville Adventist Academy extended their losing streak to three on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-3 in the process. They lost 9-3 to the Sandy Spring Friends Wildebeests. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hornets of the 15-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Nik Chavan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

As for Sandy Spring Friends, their win bumped their record up to 9-5. Considering they have won five games by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Sandy Spring Friends' side, Riis Agnew spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Henry Sommers was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Jacob Edelman was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Spencerville Adventist Academy will square off against St. Anselm's Abbey at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8.1 runs per game this season. Sandy Spring Friends does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
