Basketball Recap: Newberry Falls Short of Dillon in the Playoffs

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Newberry can now relate to. They were beaten by the Dillon Wildcats 65-26 on Saturday. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-16.

Dillon was led to victory by Khwnylahi Mckinnon and Treasure Davis. Mckinnon went 9-for-18 to rack up 23 points and five steals, while Davis went 8-for-15 en route to 18 points and seven steals. Davis' afternoon made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 15 points. Mariah Campbell was another key player, putting up seven points and three steals.

Newberry dropped their record down to 10-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Dillon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.

Newberry does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Dillon, they will square off against Oceanside Collegiate Academy at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Oceanside Collegiate Academy comes in on nine and Dillon on 14.
